Visit from Prince of Songkla University, Thailand
The delegates from Prince of Songkla University led by Dr. Perapong Tekasakul, Vice President for Research System and Graduate Studies, visited the Faculty of Life and Environmental Sciences of the University.
The purpose of the visit is to discuss potential for research collaboration and student exchange between the two universities. There are two academic members of staff in Prince of Songkla University who obtained doctorates from the University of Yamanashi and presently one more staff has been carrying out his research at the University of Yamanashi.
The delegates observed the Climate Chamber, Actinomycetes Research Laboratory and other facilities, after a briefing of the University and the Faculty of Life and Environment Science.
They called on the Memorial Exhibition for Nobel Prize Winner, Dr. Satoshi Omura, to learn about the process of his finding “Ivermectin” and the important research tools when he was at the University of Yamanashi as a student.
Finally, Dr. Shinji Shimada, President of University of Yamanashi, and the delegates discussed and agreed to further promotion of the academic exchange programs for the two universities.
