Ms. Kotomi Watanabe, a third-year undergraduate student at Department of Environmental Sciences, has been selected for a research grant from Baroque Murai Hiroyuki Foundation.
This grant program supports activities that contribute to the development of a sustainable society closely related to clothing, food, housing, and other aspects of daily life.
The title of the grant is: “Analysis of the amount of electricity generated by mixed-water power generation and proposal of an introduction scenario”. A grant of 800,000 yen will be awarded for research activities to be conducted for one year, beginning in April 2025. Mixed- water power generation is a technology that produces electrical energy by mixing abundant seawater and hot spring water obtained in Japan with wastewater. In this study, Ms. Watanabe will analyze suitable sites for the optimal use of this mixed-water power generation, and design and propose specific introduction scenarios. If this trial is successful, it will contribute to the development of a new renewable energy source that takes advantage of Japan’s geographical conditions.
Ms. Watanabe commented: “I would like to express my sincere appreciation to the Foundation and the evaluation committee members for selecting the research theme I applied for. I will continue to make further efforts to achieve research results that will serve as a bridge between advanced technology and human society. Thank you very much.”
